Abigail Marshall is the webmaster for the Dyslexia, the Gift web site at www.dyslexia.com. She first began to study dyslexia in 1994, when she realized that her 11-year-old son was not getting the help he needed with school. After successfully following methods outlined in the book The Gift of Dyslexia, Abigail became intrigued with exploring scientific discoveries about dyslexia. She soon realized from her own experience that much of the information available to parents was misguided or outdated. In 1995, she became one of the founding members of the Davis Dyslexia Association International, a membership organization devoted to increasing worldwide awareness dyslexia and providing information and training to educators.

In addition to providing content for the www.dyslexia.com site, Abigail has been a managing and contributing editor for the DDAI publication, The Dyslexic Reader since 1995, and is a contributor to the book Uniquely Gifted, edited by Kiesa Kay.

Over the past decade, Abigail has regularly answered hundreds inquiries from teacher and parents of dyslexic children all over the world. She realized that although there are many books about dyslexia, there was no single book that provided parents with a comprehensive overview of the issues they would face, including understanding of different views and theories about dyslexia, various approaches to teaching or addressing the needs of dyslexic children, school choices, and navigating the special education maze. Instead, parents typically learn this information in piecemeal and haphazard fashion, often faced with contradictory information from various sources.

The book The Everything Parent's Guide to Children with Dyslexia provides an easily accessible and comprehensive reference to use as a starting point and a sourcebook for guiding their children to become empowered learners.
